How to Build a Home Theater
If you love movies and the theater, there is nothing better than building your own home theater at home. It is now simple and cheap to build your own home theater home considering the reduced rates of electronics. Imagine getting your friends along and watching a movie on the big screen in surround sound system, in the comforts of your own home, with tasty caramel flavored popcorn to boot.
Compared to watching a movie in a theater, the same audio-visual can be replicated when you watch it the big screen at home. What is more, you can also choose to rewind and watch a fabulous scene all over again. You can choose to 'pause' a scene if you have a phone call to attend or an urgent errand to do, and then come back to watching your film. Talk about watching a movie the way you want through a home theater.
Here are steps to build a home theater
- Speakers with hi-fidelity digital sound are the essence of a theater. You go to a movie theater to enjoy the sound effects that enhance the viewing experience. So invest in high quality speakers for your own home theater. All of them should be of the same brand. The size of the speakers should complement the size of the room. Buy front right and front left speakers, a center channel speaker and surround speakers. Place the surround sound speakers in line with the viewer's ears. You can also install a second set of surround speakers behind the viewers.
- Get a stereo receiver, a device that controls both the audio and video. Before you purchase the stereo receiver, consider the size of your room. If you have a big room, then you should get a receiver that can decode 7.1 audio channels. If the room is small, buy a 5.1 audio channel receiver.
- Invest in a quality subwoofer, a very important audio component that any movie or music lover will swear by. A subwoofer will create the right 'sound effect' in a particular scene be it of the rustling of leaves or a loud bomb explosion in the movie.
- Go for a branded Plasma TV or LCD TV. Take measurements of the wall your TV will fit on and choose an appropriately sized television. It is not important to buy a huge television set; one that suits the size of the room and complements the speaker is what really matters.
