Building The Pool Deck

  • First of all you need to determine the shape of the deck which should be built to beautify your swimming pool. Also important is to decide the height of the pool deck.
  • A pool deck can be built using good quality wood or also concrete pier block. It is suggested to use water resistant materials such as granite tiles to build the step that leads into the pools.
  • Once you have decided on the material to be used, you will have to start working on the floor.
  • Most swimming pools have a 6x2” floor in size. However, you may choose the size of the deck according to your preference. You also need to mark the foot points with some stakes.
  • Next, you need to dig in the foundation gap or holes and set foundation tubes into it tomake sure that the tubes are properly inserted in the holes. Fill the 1/4th part of the hole with cement and place post anchor appropriately before it gets dry.
  • After doing the above, you need to set the frames of your pool deck. Make sure that any footings that you measure should meet the joists of the deck. Affix a ledger board to set the height of your pool deck. Conventionally, a 2x6 ledger board is used. You can use a ledger board of your desired measure for your deck. Also see that the installed posts are vertical with your level of ledger board you installed. Now you will require a 2x6’ stock which should be already drilled and fasten it on the deck frame. Now affix the posts on the installed posts with the help of bolts. Fit the base joist hangers on the frame of the deck at an appraise distance.
  • After the farming of the deck, you need to install the deck using stocks of appropriate length. Make sure that you rub over the surface and corners of the stock to avoid foot injury. Now lay the stock on the frame of the deck making sure that there is no cupped portion on it. You may also leave spacing in between for drainage. This is how you can build a pool deck around your swimming pool.
