Moreover that, you will have an opportunity to look after you child and take proper care as the sandpit will be installed in your own backyard. Building a sand pit is not as daunting as it may seem. Here are the steps to build a sandbox:
Stuff You Need
- You need to decide on certain aspects before you start developing your sand box. For example, you need to determine the location of the sandbox, the amount that you can spend on your sandpit. The shape, size and design of the sandbox are also important to be determined during the initial period of the development process.
- After you have determined the design you need to gather materials to build up your backyard sandbox. You may use any material that you think is better. However, most of the sand boxes are built using wood or brick. It is suggested to use wood as it can be used to easily shape your sandpit. Once you have the required material, you may start with cutting the lumber according to the set design. For example if you have decided to build a rectangular sandbox, then you should cut the wood accordingly so that it helps you create a proper rectangle shaped sand box.
- Also calculate the width of the wooden log and decide the number of lumber you would need to set the determined height your sandpit. While prepare the wood stock, also remember to cut wood for pillars and roof.
- Setting foundation of your sandbox is an important part of the entire process. You need to pay attention towards creating the foundation. You may use pierce bricks. When you build the foundation remember to leave gaps in between the bricks so that you may be able to set anchors later. You need not fill these gaps with concrete at this moment.
- Once the foundation is built you may use the prepared wooden logs to form the sides of your sandbox. Metal bracket can be used to align the wood and set the sides of the play area. Make sure that the brackets are attached from the outer side of the sandpit so that it does not hurt your children. Now place woods prepared for pillar and cover the gaps with concrete. These pillars will support the roof.
- You may have the pillars set according to the design of the sandbox. After the pillars are set, you can now proceed to set the frame of roof. You may take experts' help or someone who has the relevant knowledge may help you with the task. After you have set the roof, you may now paint your sandbox and fill it with sufficient amount of sand. Also make sure that you rub the entire play area so that it does not have any hard corner that may harm your child.
