The See Saw is one of the best play things for children and adults alike. It is not common for children to flock around a see saw in a garden so that they can get their turn to sit and experience the to and fro fun ride. You need not visit any park to see your child playing see saw. Hence, in this article we will explain you how to build your own see saw for your children.

Find A Good Area

  • First of all it is important to settle on area where you wish to built your own see saw. It is suggested to build your see saw on a grassy land so that you child does not get hurt while playing. Make sure that the location of your see saw is properly leveled and does not have any obstruction that may hinder the motion of the see saw. You may also utilize mulch to soften the surrounding area of the see saw.
  • The most important part of building a see saw is constructing a fulcrum. It is important to build a proper and flawless fulcrum. However, before you build the fulcrum you need to determine the height of the see saw and according to that you need to set the materials required. To set the fulcrum you can either use a U - shaped windows well pivot or you may also build your own wooden pivot.

Building The See Saw

  • To build a wooden pivot you will have to possess two same sized wooden posts which should be fastened with each other and one point and other ends of the posts should be thrust into ground at a little distance from each other. Even with U Shaped window well fulcrums you will have to use spikes to hold the pivot to the ground. Once you finished preparing the fulcrum you should now, proceed with placing the log on the see saw.
  • Always consider buying a pressure tested lumber for creating the lever of your see saw. This will help your see saw function for a longer period. You need to mark the center point of the lumber so that the weight on both the sides is equal. Many a times, it may happen that even if you mark the center appropriate, the lumber may have lighter weight on either side of the log. Once you have marked the appropriate point to serve as the center of the log align the log with the fulcrum using bolt and make sure that the motion of the see saw is smooth.

Your see saw is almost done; now all you need to do is affix seats on both the sides. Mark equal measures on both the ends of the log and affix a seat to it using bolts.
