How to Build a Speaker Box
It is known that speakers play an important role when it comes to music. Having good speakers may help you get good sound clarity. You may also build your own speakers without taxing your wallet. You need not spend a lot of money to buy speakers. The best part about developing your own speakers is that you can create different types and sizes of speaker boxes. All you need is basic knowledge about speaker connection. To build an efficient speaker box, you may require wooden logs, speaker derivers, wood adhesive, screws and insulation. Here's how you can build a speaker box:
What to Make the Box Out of
- Before you start with framing your speakers it is important to decide the size of your speaker box. You can determine the size according to the speaker driver. This will help you to get an idea about the size of box required for the relevant speaker drivers. When you choose wood for your box, make sure that you select good quality wood.
- Most speakers have conventional particle board wood or fiber board. Purchase wood which is compatible to the vibration of the sound. You need to have enough wood to cover all six sides of your speakers. You need to purchase wood based on the size and shape you determined initially. This will avoid any shortage of wood. Once you have bought the required amount of lumber, you need to cut it and shape them according to the pattern you desire for your speaker box.
Building The Box
- You need to mark the circle of the same size as the speaker driver, on the front panel wood log. Fix the speaker driver to the front panel wood using screws. Once you have the speaker driver affixed with the front panel, you need to fit the sides of the box. It is important to drill holes so that the screws can be tightly fastened into the wood and all the parts can be aligned properly.
- To cover the sides of the speaker box entirely make sure that you install braces in the box, so that you get good sound clarity and the vibrating sound could be eradicated.
- Remember to drill a hole on the back panel of the box so that the wires can be pulled out through the hole to connect it to the audio device. You may now cover all the sides of the box using glue as well as screws for better and tight alignment.
- Once your speaker box is ready, you may now cover the front panel of your speaker with black cloth and staple it or glue it and the sides of the front panel. You may use cloth of any other color according to your preference.
